Lenvo as of FEB 2015 is in to its 3RD Gen of Lenovo X1, so there are 3 generations of the Carbon models, and therefore three versions of keyboards on the market, this item is the 2nd Generation only. The easiest way to tell if you have the 2nd gen is by looking at the top right corner of the keyboard and see if your backspace and delete is like the picture below.

1. Identify Hinge Clip Style

The hinge clip is the plastic scissor clip that swivels up and down underneath the keyboard key cap. It is usually either black or white and functions as the part that holds the back of he key to the keyboard.

Manufacturers often use different keyboard vendors during production and each vendor has its own unique type of hinge clip. Compare the chart and identify the version that matches. You will fill this info in Step 2 above.

Hinge Clips are not Universal so if your hinge clip does not match, please Contact Us for help.

2. Confirm Keyboard Layout and Language

Below is an actual picture of the keyboard. Please confirm that the layout matches as well as the language.

NOTE:The default color of the keyboard we show is black. If your model comes in different colors and we have it in stock, it will be available in the color section above.

INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS: Our standard keyboard layout is QWERTY (shown below). If you have a different language layout the key cap and hinge clips are still interchangeable. If the key cap shape does not match or you require a different language layout please contact us before ordering.

Easier than Advertised.

I was super frustreated after getting a new work laptop to find the E Key was broken. I figured I might as well just buy a replacement. I literally followed the replacement instructions and then my key was fine. It seems like such a small problem, but it was great to have it fixed so easily.

I originally ordered the wrong key (IC49, not realizing there was a second gen of the Carbon X1 that had different keys), but when it didn't fit I did another search on the site and found this one. I followed the simple exchange process and got the right key just fine. One strange thing though... I needed a second gen key, but I don't have the split Backspace/Delete key like in the description, so I'd say to pay close attention to the way the key looks and check it against both the first and second gen versions of the Carbon X1.

So glad I found RLK!! They are the only people that actually knows what they are doing! ordered couples keys from other sites and turn out to be not even close, even accuse me of ordering the wrong items... but these keys are the actual right ones for my laptop, they match and fit perfectly and saved lots of money than replacing a keyboard, kudos to you guys!
