Apple used different butterfly keyboard generations. These replacement keys use the second-generation butterfly mechanism found on compatible Late 2016–2018 MacBook Pro models. First-generation butterfly keycaps and hinge clips have different dimensions and attachment points and will not fit correctly.

Perfect replacement
This is the third key on my MacBook Pro that has broken, and the third that I have replaced via ReplacementLaptopKeys. The butterfly switch on this key wasn't broken, so I just needed the key itself. It snapped right into place and works perfectly.

Haven't received key yet, weeks later
This is the second time I've ordered this key only to find that it's not in stock. The first time I opted to just receive the pieces below the key, but this time I told them I am waiting for the key itself. I guess their stock is not often up to date!

good if they arrive
I've had to replace quite a few of my macbook keys (Apple really screwed up with this laptop keyboard). Several orders have gone off well, but the last order was canceled a long while after I placed it, because they didn't have the key. I thought they would follow up, but the followup was to ask me to give a review, so here I am. When the system works, the keys do their job.
