Apple used different butterfly keyboard generations. These replacement keys use the second-generation butterfly mechanism found on compatible Late 2016–2018 MacBook Pro models. First-generation butterfly keycaps and hinge clips have different dimensions and attachment points and will not fit correctly.

Replacement MacBook Pro laptop keys Late 2016-2018
Apple was willing to fix this keyboard for me, but wanted to have my laptop for 6 weeks to do it. Replacement Key Didn't Meet My Needs
My original key had become unstuck from the laptop. This replacement key a) did not fit the opening for the key and b) provided no mechanism to attach the key to the laptop. It had all of the right parts and seemed to function correctly but did not resolve my issue.

Great product, it was super easy to install. A bit expensive for the size. It would be better to sell just a portion of the button assembly, not all if it affects price.

A Quick Fix
A quick fix that I should have done sooner! For months, I have been struggling with one key (letter T) that kept popping off the keyboard as I typed. The local Apple repair centre wanted me to leave the laptop with them for 7 working days, just so that they could assess the problem. Instead, I ordered one of these replacement keys sets and the problem was fixed within a minute. Whilst there are three parts in the kit, it turned out that I only needed the actual key (the part with the T' on it). I think some tiny tabs on the original had broken, so it wouldn't snap into place. The replacement key snapped right in and has been working perfectly since.
